Community Support Grows at Comfest 2025
Comfest — Columbus’s long-running community festival celebrating peace, art, and activism — became a powerful platform for advocacy this summer. Several dedicated volunteers set up throughout the weekend to share Robert J. Ruark’s story and promote the ongoing clemency petition.
Over the course of three days, hundreds of Ohio residents stopped to listen, ask questions, and sign their names in support of Robert’s release. Many expressed surprise at the details of his case — particularly how a self-defense claim was never presented at trial, and how his disbarred attorney left crucial evidence unheard.
The outpouring of empathy and action at Comfest reflected what has become a central theme of Robert’s journey: community matters. Each signature adds strength to a growing movement dedicated to justice, reform, and second chances.
Momentum Across Columbus and Beyond
What began as a grassroots effort among family and friends is now reaching thousands of Ohioans. The response from Comfest shows how deeply people connect with Robert’s story — and how urgently they want to see change.
The team left the weekend inspired, energized, and more committed than ever to sharing Robert’s truth and fighting for his clemency.
